About Us

Rochelle-biopic

ReTHINK It was founded by Dr. Richelle Brooks, a Black momma, dedicated transformative educator for over 10 years, high school principal, grass roots organizer, student loan debt abolitionist, author, speaker and activist.

Dr. Brooks has a doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on Black and African-American Community Sustainability and wellness. As a research practitioner, her interventions, teaching, educational leadership and organization are grounded in research and informed by community voices. As a first-generation college graduate and formerly houseless person, she has learned to navigate the most oppressive and racist systems and institutions. She has made it her life’s work to help others do the same while simultaneously working to dismantle these systems that perpetuate inequities.

“The story of ReTHINK It is deeply personal to me, rooted in my own experiences as a mother who has navigated through significant challenges in life. Raised amidst systemic injustices, I refused to let my circumstances define me. Instead, I used them as fuel to drive me towards creating positive change in the world.” - Dr. Richelle Brooks
